Cheapest UK supermarket for a Christmas roast revealed
A MAJOR supermarket has trumped the rest in the festive shopping wars, kicking off the season with a fantastic value meal.
The dinner looks set to be the cheapest option on the market this year, including a whole turkey for just £9.

Lidl’s feast for eight costs only £11.85 in total, representing outrageous value for money with other supermarket options as high as £80.
Much of the cost is saved in the vegetables, with most priced at just 8p each, including potatoes (2kg), carrots (1kg) and brussels sprouts (500kg).
The meal also includes a 3.5kg whole turkey for just £9.
The other sides are made up of parsnips (1kg) for 16p and two packs of Newgate stuffing for 45p per pack.
If that wasn’t enough, the feast is replete with 15 Yorkshire puddings for 46p and 300g of gravy for £1.09.
All of that means that the meal will cost only £1.50 per person, currently the best bargain out there.
That means the Lidl Christmas feast is set to be far the cheapest option out there come December.
Before this was announced, price rankings by Isle of Wight County Press found that the cheapest Christmas meal to be found was Aldi at £31.73.
This is nearly £20 more expensive than Lidl’s offering.
Their rankings found that Marks & Spencer was the most expensive, riced at £80.95.
These rankings may change, though, as other supermarkets will wade into the Christmas price wars, too.
Last year, one day saw Asda, Aldi and Lidl all slash their festive vegetable prices from 15p to 8p to remain competitive.
This year, customers could also buy a 300g bag of shallots and individual swedes at 8p each, though this would be additional to the cost of the meal.
Lidl said promotional festive prices would not affect payments to farmers.
The Lidl Christmas dinner prices are set to appear in store from 19 December.
