Two children were at the house when three men smashed their way into the premises

Children were left “extremely frightened” after a gang of men smashed their way into their home.

The incident took place shortly after 7pm yesterday evening, January 8, in the Black Quarter Meadow area of Carryduff. Three men smashed patio doors at the rear of a home and searched the house but left empty handed.

Detectives are now appealing for information from the public as they investigate further.

Detective Sergeant Crossett said: “Entry was gained at around 7.15pm when three men smashed patio doors at the rear of the property. The men, described as dressed all in black with local accents, searched the house but left empty handed.

“Two children were present at the time, and although they were not physically harmed or threatened, they have been left extremely frightened by this intrusion into their home.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area to contact us on 101, quoting reference 1282 08/01/26.

“We would also ask local residents to check their CCTV or doorbell footage.”
