Colombian TV broadcast repeatedly interrupted by creepy mystery mannequin | News World
A South American TV station watched by millions of people has left its audience bewildered by the unexplained appearance of a dishevelled mannequin over a green screen several times during a broadcast.
Viewers of a Colombia’s Caracol TV network flooded social media demanding explanations for the ‘creepy’ doll.
It appeared three times for up to almost a minute at a time during a rerun of hit 90s Mexican soap opera ‘La Usurpadora’ on New Year’s Eve.
At one point, audio from the soap continued to play while the mannequin – adorned with a bedraggled wig and shabby clothes – hogged the screen.
At other moments, there was total silence while it stared lifelessly from the screen.
‘I don’t know if anyone was watching the soap and got as scared as I did’, one social media user said.
‘The first meme of the year’, wrote another.
Some speculated that the channel was hacked for a prank.
Others suggested the network accidentally showed footage from a studio, where the mannequin may have been used to test the lighting and framing of a shot.
Bosses at the TV station have not commented on the matter.
Caracol TV was noted in the Guinness Book of Records for producing the longest-running comedy series in the world.
Sábados Felices (Happy Saturdays) has been on the air for 53 years.
