Telling fans of her plans to depart Weatherfield, Channique took to social media at the start of the month to say: “After three whirlwind years of Dee-Dee Bailey, I’ve decided to say farewell to the cobbles.”

“Bittersweet to be saying goodbye, but I am so excited for pastures new and enjoying the end of playing Princess Diana and her many expressions,” she added before, in mid-October, she confirmed that her time filming for Corrie had come to an end.

The soap star posted a beaming picture of herself outside the show’s Trafford-based set, alongside a picture of her completing the Manchester Half Marathon days earlier. She then captioned them: “Thats a wrap x2! Quite the week, she doesn’t do things by half (except marathons).”

Her exit has now been hinted at on-screen and taking to Instagram, Channqiue was seen honouring David, who is famed for playing Roy Cropper in the long-running show, as she recalled their last scene together.

Sharing a smiling snap of the pair in Roy’s Rolls on her Instagram Story on Wednesday (December 3) evening, the soap star wrote: “Last time sharing the screen with the best of humans to know and work with [heart emoji] @coronaionstreet.”

Channique’s post comes after she opened up to the Manchester Evening News and other press about her decision to leave, saying it wasn’t a “rash” decision. “I made the decision in spring, and it wasn’t a rash decision,” she told us. “You know, I really took a couple of months from being offered my next year contract to actually even respond,” Channique explained.

“I felt really torn, but I really just had, you know, the sense that it just felt like the time. I feel like I’ve been so privileged, and I’ve got to tell some great stories, and it’s been so wonderful.

“And obviously I’m very led by my faith as well so I just really took my time over it and prayed into it. And I think, yeah, I found a real sense that I had done what I’d come to do, if that makes sense, not that I ever knew exactly what it was, but it just felt like I had achieved what I was sent here to do, so it was time to be brave.”
