Count Arthur Strong show at Darlington Hippodrome cancelled

A performance of Count Arthur Strong as Charles Dickens in ‘A Christmas Carol’ at the venue was scheduled to take place.

However, producers announced the decision this afternoon, confirming that the comic performer was unable to appear.

Drum, the show’s producer, said: “Due to continued illness, the show tonight in Darlington has been cancelled.

“We are so very sorry for the inconvenience, but, of course, once again it is totally outside our control.”

Darlington Hippodrome said its box office team is contacting all ticket holders directly and that customers will receive an automatic refund on Monday.

A spokesperson for the theatre added: “Tonight’s performance of Count Arthur Strong is Charles Dickens in ‘A Christmas Carol is unable to go ahead due to illness.

“Our box office team will contact all bookers for this show. If you have booked a ticket, you don’t need to do anything; you will be automatically refunded on Monday.

“We are endeavouring to reschedule at the earliest opportunity.

“Phone lines are currently closed to incoming calls whilst our box office team contacts customers regarding tonight’s cancellation.

“We were all very much looking forward to the show and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Ticket holders are being advised not to contact the venue and to await communication from the box office.

Anyone with further queries is asked to refer to the contact information on their original ticket receipt or confirmation email.”

The production team said a decision on whether Saturday’s scheduled show in Salford will go ahead is expected on Saturday morning.
