Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has been on the BBC One show since it began in 2004

Strictly’s Craig Revel Horwood has updated fans on his future on the BBC ballroom programme.

The TV star has served as a judge on the show since its inception in 2004, and has now disclosed his intention to stay, stating he would need to be “dragged out”, reports the Mirror.

Craig spoke candidly on BBC Breakfast on Thursday (December 18) whilst discussing the “super sad” forthcoming departure of presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, who announced earlier this year that they were stepping down from Strictly.

Host Charlie Stayt asked: “Just for the record, you are going to be staying on? I mean, there’s no other changes lined up other than those two?”

“No darling,” Craig responded. “I will be dragged out kicking and screaming from that position.”

He elaborated: “I’ve got the best front seat in the world darling to all of that spectacular dancing. And it’s my lovely little Saturday job that I would miss.

“You know it’s like doing a paper round for me. You know you get to meet lots of lovely people. You get to see amazing dance routines. And it’s a fantastic show to be part of.

“And when you consider its legacy. You know it’s gone to 63 countries worldwide. Which is no main feat. And you know in the Guinness World Records for the best, the most produced format in the world. Which is incredible. “

He added: “And there’s a reason I think you know. Because that did win the hearts and minds of not only this nation. But every other nation around the world.”

The celebrity suggested he believed dance was “something for everyone”.

“It’s a human consideration,” he clarified. ” You know, people hear music and just love to dance. And it brings people together. All different communities. And I think that’s what’s brilliant about it. Because the people from various communities can all come together. And talk about one common denominator. And that’s dance. It’s fantastic.”

Craig also revealed his sadness at bidding farewell to Tess and Claudia.

“I’m very super sad about that,” he said. “Because of course I’ve worked with Tess since the very beginning. You know, 21 years ago. And it’s hard to say goodbye in that way. But I know that people have to move forward and move on and stuff like that.”

Whilst there has been considerable speculation regarding who might step into Tess and Claudia’s shoes on the programme, Craig admitted he was completely unaware of any plans. “I have no clue darling,” he insisted.
