Dakota Johnson Joins Lily Allen For Madeline Saturday Night Live Performance

Lily Allen had a surprise in store for fans as she performed songs from her latest album West End Girl live for the first time.

Earlier this year, the chart-topping singer made headlines the world over with the release of her fifth album, which featured candid and confessional lyrics that appeared to allude to her much-publicised split from her ex-husband, Stranger Things actor David Harbour.

Over the weekend, Lily was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, where she opened the show with a rendition of Sleepwalking, and closed it with stand-out track Madeline.

And it was this second performance that really got people talking thanks to the inclusion of a surprise guest.

On the studio version of Madeline, Lily is heard donning an American accent to portray the titular character, a woman who the song’s narrator discovers that her husband has been sleeping with.

However, on SNL, she roped in a famous face to play Madeline.

During the performance, a mysterious figure was heard speaking from behind a translucent curtain, emerging from behind it later in the song to reveal herself as none other than Dakota Johnson.

You can reach out to me any time, by the way, if you need any more details or you just need to vent or anything,” Dakota said at the end of the song, as she came up behind Lily and kissed her on the cheek. “Love and light, Madeline…”

West End Girl was created in the space of 10 days towards the end of last year, with Lily describing the album as a work of “autofiction”.

She previously claimed that the songs featured on West End Girl were “inspired by what went on” towards the end of her marriage, albeit with artistic licence applied.

Lily’s two SNL performances are presumably a taster of what fans should expect when she hits the road for her West End Girl world tour in 2026, during which she’ll be performing the album in full.
