Darlington road closures and traffic controls this weekend

Drivers and residents in Darlington are being warned to expect delays and diversions as a series of planned roadworks and closures take place across the town.

Works will impact several roads, with utility and highway maintenance being carried out by Northumbrian Water, Northern Powergrid, and Darlington Council.

One of the closures is on Snackgate Lane in Heighington.

Northumbrian Water has been carrying out sewer repair works following flooding, with a full road closure in place.

These works are scheduled to finish on November 29.

The closure has allowed workers to excavate and repair the affected sewer, with the road set to reopen once reinstatement is complete.

On Yarm Road, multi-way traffic signals will be in operation on November 30.

Northumbrian Water will be excavating on an existing meter chamber to renew its cover as part of utility repair and maintenance works.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys, as the signals may cause delays along this busy route.

Meanwhile, a road closure is in place at the rear of 42 Acacia Street, affecting both Coniston Street and Acacia Street Back Street.

Northumbrian Water is addressing a leak by excavating on an existing boundary box and fittings to renew them.

This closure began on November 25 and is expected to continue until December 1.

Further works are taking place at Faverdale, outside Unit 3A on the Faverdale Industrial Estate.

Northumbrian Water is installing a new service connection at the request of a customer.

Two-way traffic signals are in operation from November 24 to November 30.

The works involve excavating to a depth of around 750mm to install new pipes and chambers, with both open cut and thrustbore techniques being used where possible.

On Thompson Street East, on the railway bridge, Northern Powergrid is carrying out utility asset works.

The company is excavating four trial holes in the footway to determine the route for a new cable.

Two-way signals are in use from November 24 through to December 18, meaning drivers can expect ongoing traffic management in this area for several weeks.

Long-term road closures are also in place in Harrowgate Village and Beaumont Hill.
