Darlington Round Table donates to Theatre Hullabaloo

Darlington Round Table has donated £700 to help families in the town’s most underprivileged areas to visit Theatre Hullabaloo next Christmas.

The money was raised by the annual Santa’s Sleigh tour of Darlington, and enabled the Hullabaloo to qualify for the Big Give Christmas Challenge, which matched donations made.

Sarah Churlish, Senior Programme Manager, said: “Theatre Hullabaloo is extremely grateful to Darlington Round Table for their very generous pledge to our Big Give fundraising campaign.

“Their support gave us the opportunity to raise more funds from match donations through the Big Give Christmas Challenge – essentially doubling every donation we get!

“These much-needed funds will go directly into our Dream Makers Fund, helping to ensure that local children experiencing financial hardship can enjoy the magic of live theatre next Christmas.”

The community group’s donation to the Dream Makers Fund will help around 150 children in Darlington visit the theatre, which as well as shows, also provides free sensory and play spaces for children.

Alex Taylor-Garthwaite, chairman of Darlington Round Table, said: “Our town is incredibly privileged to be home to the only dedicated children’s theatre north of London.

“It’s only right that as many children in Darlington as possible get the chance to enjoy this amazing resource, regardless of their backgrounds.”
