Death in Paradise is set to return to our screens with a festive special in just days, promising “even more heart”, according to the BBC.
The beloved cast will be back on Saint Marie for another bout of seasonal cheer, though the ultimate office celebration quickly descends into chaos.
Broadcasting on December 28 at 8.30pm on BBC One, the corporation reveals: “The office Christmas party of a lifetime takes a dark turn when four co-workers wake up with the hangover from hell to find a stranger shot dead in the pool of their villa.
“DI Mervin Wilson and the team identify the murder weapon, but they’re left baffled after discovering that it was locked in a drawer when the shooting took place… thousands of miles away from the crime scene.”
Running for approximately 90 minutes, the seasonal episode will feature the return of several well-loved characters. Earlier in the year, series 14 concluded, leaving fans anxious about the fate of Don Warrington’s character, Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, reports the Express.
After 14 years on the programme, Warrington’s departure in March left audiences heartbroken. In the previous series, Selwyn opted to leave Saint Marie following the loss of his Commissioner position, turning down the opportunity to reclaim the role.
Nevertheless, fans will need to wait patiently to see whether the Commissioner reappears… particularly given his cameo in the Christmas special of Beyond Paradise.

The Death in Paradise actor is married to Mary Maddocks, with the couple having enjoyed many years of marriage together.
Don prefers to maintain privacy around his relationship, with the precise date of their wedding remaining undisclosed, though his family life remains strong behind the scenes.
His wife Mary has featured in numerous notable productions including ITV’s Coronation Street, as well as Doctor Who and Midsomer Murders.
