Dispersal order issued for Shotton after anti-social behaviour
Durham Police has issued a dispersal order for Shotton Colliery due to continued reports of anti-social behaviour.
A spokesperson said officers are patrolling the area after a string of incidents including youths throwing mud, stones and eggs at people, cars, and homes.
Police also said they had received reports of nuisance off-road bikes and items being thrown at buses, putting drivers and passengers at risk.
A force spokesperson said: “If these incidents continue, bus services could be reviewed to protect staff and the public.
“These powers allow officers to direct individuals to leave the area if their behaviour is causing or likely to cause harassment, alarm, distress, crime or disorder. We’re not here to spoil fun, but everyone deserves to feel safe in their own community.”
The force has also asked parents and guardians to make sure they know where their children are, who they’re with, and what they’re doing.

A spokesperson added: “Investigations continue.
“We are reviewing CCTV and working with residents and businesses to identify those responsible. ASB may now be treated as harassment or criminal damage.
“This behaviour is not acceptable and action will be taken.
“Thank you to those who continue to report incidents or intelligence — please keep doing so via 101, online, or 999 in an emergency.”
