East Coast Mainline clears after person hit by train

Parts of the East Coast Mainline were closed earlier this afternoon – affecting train travel in and around York – after a person was hit by a train between Peterborough / Cambridge and London.

The incident was reported at 1.45pm today (December 3) with the entire mainline set to be impacted by the travel delays.

Whilst some trains are currently leaving York on time, trains were held at Kings Cross for around two hours with major disruption is expected across the network until the end of the day.

“Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed. Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised,” said a spokesperson for National Rail at time.
