EastEnders viewers were introduced to a baby called Ethan on the BBC soap during a 2027 flashforward episode, but fans don’t think Jack Branning is the child’s father
Baby Ethan in EastEnders has yet to be identified in terms of whose baby he is.
Fans think they know though, after it was revealed he was being cared for by Jack Branning. With him looking after the baby, the obvious conclusion would be that it’s Jack’s son.
But some fans are convinced Ethan’s parents are two other Walford residents. Viewers wondered if Jack was caring for the child of his daughter Penny Branning.
Then there is daughter Amy and son Ricky. So could the baby be the new child of one of his own kids, with a mystery person being the other parent? If Penny, perhaps amid spoilers teasing a romance with Vinny Panesar, Vinny and Penny could be the parents.

Ricky already has a young child and is very young himself so he seems unlikely. As for Amy, fans wondered if Denzel could be the dad. Of course it could be Jack’s child given his history.
Fans don’t think so though, taking to X to share their theories. Amy was the most predicted parent, with one fan writing: “Who is Ethan? That better not be Amy’s baby.” Another said: Is baby Ethan Amy & Denzel’s?!????” as a third posted: “Who’s baby’s that? Amy’s?”
Jack was drinking heavily when Lauren found him, with his wife Denise Fox having stormed out. Lauren told her uncle she didn’t recognise him, with it clear he’d gone trough something and fallen off track.
Lauren encouraged him to move forward as he had little Ethan to think of. Viewers will have to wait and see what happens to find out what leads to everything in the episode.
It comes as fans think they know who the pregnant woman is in Max’s bed. Max was seen waking up in the year 2027. As he rolled over, there was a woman also waking up, but her identity was covered.
She had a baby bump though which she was caressing, and the camera then panned to a baby scan as well as pregnancy supplements. After a recent random scene this week on the BBC soap, fans think it was a major hint at what was ahead.
With so much more to be explained, it hasn’t stopped fans thinking Chelsea Fox is the pregnant character in Max’s bed. Just days ago she suggested she found him attractive, so fans think this was the clue that she would be the woman.
