EastEnders’ Nicola makes huge decision after doubling over in agony | Soaps
Tonight’s EastEnders delivered an intense episode, ending with a life-or-death emergency, a long-awaited pregnancy twist, and a chilling warning from behind bars. Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington), Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway)and George Knight (Colin Salmon) found their lives changed within minutes as tragedy struck in the Arches, and the fallout sets up a dramatic new chapter for the family.
The episode picks up immediately after last night’s cliffhanger, with Gina discovering Harry collapsed in the Arches following an overdose. Realising he isn’t breathing, Gina Knight (Francesca Henry)screams echo through the garage as she desperately calls for help.
Jack Branning (Scott Maslen)is the first to arrive, rushing into the Arches to find Gina panicking over Harry’s lifeless body. Taking control of the situation, Jack immediately begins CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation while Gina tries to steady herself long enough to call an ambulance.
Harry turned back to drugs, having still been wracked with guilt over Teddy Mitchell’s (Roland Manookian) imprisonment and his own dark secret.
Elsewhere, Nicola is already on edge as she clashes with Zack over Barney. When Zack tries to reason with her about Barney’s living situation, Nicola snaps, refusing to even consider letting her son move in with him.
The argument spirals fast until George arrives and puts an end to it. Sensing Nicola’s distress, he steps between them, forcing Nicola to stop and listen as he breaks the news about Harry.
The moment immediately shifts Nicola’s focus. Zack, shaken by George’s announcement, turns his attention to supporting Barney, who is terrified at the thought of losing his brother.
Nicola arrives at the Arches just as paramedics take over from Jack. But in a decisive moment, she reaches into her bag for an emergency injection, the same medication Harry’s doctor gave her after his last overdose.
With trembling hands, Nicola administers the injection, buying Harry precious minutes until the paramedics stabilise him. It becomes the life-saving difference that keeps him alive.
But moments after handing Harry over to medics, Nicola doubles over in sudden, sharp pain. George rushes to her side, insisting the paramedics check her over as soon as Harry is safely transported. Nicola tries to brush off the pain, but George won’t relent, he knows something is wrong.
At the hospital, Nicola refuses any scans or examinations. She refuses to leave Harry’s side, terrified of what might happen if she isn’t there. But George pleads with her, reminding her that she needs to be well enough to look after Harry, and that whatever’s happening cannot be ignored.
Eventually, worn down and frightened, Nicola agrees to the scan.
As the ultrasound begins, Nicola and George watch the screen in tense silence. Then, the sound fills the room, the rapid, steady thump of a heartbeat. Their baby’s heartbeat.
Nicola is overwhelmed by the relief that the baby is safe. George quickly follows, unable to hide how much the moment means to him. For the first time in weeks, the pair seem united and happy.
Nicola and George decide together that they are going to keep the baby.
After days of trauma, hospital visits and fear for Harry’s life, the pair finally has something hopeful to cling to.
Meanwhile, behind bars, Teddy is told he is being moved to Durham prison, a place where visits from loved ones will become far more difficult. Desperate, he begs officers for one last chance to see his family before he is transferred.
Billy is the one who comes to see him. Billy breaks the news about Harry’s overdose and near-death collapse. Teddy is horrified, blaming himself immediately and begging Billy for details.
But Billy has something else to tell him; he accidentally lets slip about the news of Nicola’s pregnancy.
Teddy is stunned. The weight of everything hits him at once: his son nearly died, his family is falling apart, and a baby he didn’t even know about is now part of the picture.
Trying to reclaim what little control he has left, Teddy delivers one final warning:
He insists that Nicola is poison and he begs Billy to warn George before it’s too late.
The episode ends with the family fractured, frightened and unsure of what comes next. Harry has survived, but only just. Nicola and George are preparing for a baby neither expected. Barney clings to Zack for comfort. And Teddy, now more isolated than ever, continues to pull strings from prison.
