Emmerdale star Georgia Jay has shared an adorable photograph of her new baby daughter after surprising fans with the news that she had given birth
Emmerdale star Georgia Jay has shared the first picture of her newborn baby after surprising fans with the news she became a frst-time mum six months ago. The actress, who plays Weatherfield’s Steph Miligan, announced she was pregnant in June 2025 and gave birth the same month – but kept the happy news under wraps until New Year’s Day.
Georgia, who joined the ITV soap in 2024, has now shared her first public photograph of the tot, captioning it “Nora June 2025” with a red rose emoji. The black-and-white snap of mum and baby was taken by Anya Tilden, a professional family photographer whose work has featured in Vogue and SheerLuxe.
The pic was quickly flooded with congratulatory comments from the TV star’s fans and friends, including a few from her Emmerdale co-stars. Long-time cast member Laura Norton, who plays Kerry Wyatt, wrote “Yay congrats gorgeous”, and Beth Cordingly, who portrays Georgia’s on-screen mum Ruby, added; “You are perfect and so is she. Love you x”.
Georgia, who is an identical twin, kept her pregnancy – and baby bump – out of the public eye until the final few weeks, only announcing it on her social media a few weeks before Nora’s birth. Alongside a professional snap showcasing her large bump, she wrote: “As you’ve probably guessed, I’ve got some news to share!
“I know some of you have been wondering if you’ve been seeing a little bump on screen lately… well, it’s not your imagination… I’m having a baby! We’ve never been so excited and a little nervous all at once. Thank you for all the love and support.”
Georgia’s character Steph was written out of the soap temporarily when the actress went on maternity leave in August, but she is expected reprise the role once her leave ends. When she joined the cast in 2024, she said she was “very excited to see what lies ahead for Steph, given her intriguing backstory.” Her storylines so far include the discovery that Anthony Fox (played by Nicholas Patrick Day) was actually her dad, and his murder at the hands of her mum Ruby.
Away from the soap, the 33-year-old has also had parts in Giri/Haji, and the films Charity and The Devil Sits on Both Shoulders. Last year she also had a guest role in Silent Witness, playing Camilla in the Vanishing Point episode, in which a mysterious contagion spread on a UK-bound flight from Mumbai.
