Actor Bradley Riches made his Emmerdale debut last year as Lewis Barton after he arrived in the village hoping for answers about his biological mother, Emma Barton.

Viewers may recall that Emma was killed by Moira Dingle, but it was Adam Barton who took the blame and has been on the run from the police ever since.

Since then, Lewis has become an integral part of the village, making close friends with Nicola King through his work at the cafe and has developed a flirty friendship with Vinny Dingle.

Not to mention, his sibling dynamic with Ross Barton who returned to the village in 2024 after some time away from the role, and was first seen fighting Billy Fletcher at an unlicensed boxing match.

Lewis is the first neurodivergent character to be on Emmerdale, and actor Bradley has opened up about the realities of being autistic and the importance of representation.

He previously shared: “As an autistic actor, stepping into this role feels deeply personal- finally getting to bring my whole self to the screen, without masking, without shrinking.

“It’s a reminder of how real burnout and masking can be, and how important it is to show those layers with honesty and care. I’m proud, I’m seen, and I’m so incredibly grateful to help tell a story that means everything to me.”

Taking to his Instagram, Bradley shared a clip of him participating in Celebrity Mastermind where he answered seven questions correct in the general knowledge round.

In the clip, Bradley showed some of the answers he got wrong, including calling a Meerkat “a big cat”. He wrote: “My autistic brain said ‘questions? absolutely not’ so I just free-styled my answers. A Meerkat is now officially a Cat now”

He then jokingly offered an apology to Love Island winners Toni Laites and Cach Mercer for getting their question wrong and saying they were contestants on Great British Bake Off. Toni also responded to the video and replied: “close enough” as Bradley joked back: “get that baking trophy next”.

Bradley quipped: “Also want to publicly apologise to the icons @tonilaites and @cacherel_ – I know you won Love island just the words weren’t computing.”The actor then went onto add: “Did I lose Celebrity Mastermind? Yes. Did I raise money for @autisticauk? Also yes. SO SLAY”. His co-stars arrived in the comments to support the star, as Laura Norton wrote: “You are wonderful”.

Ash Palmisciano who plays Matty Barton in the ITV soap also shared his support and added: “ah your the best you haha best master mind I’ve seen to be honest ha”.
