F1 standings: Lando Norris aiming to clinch first world title at Qatar Grand Prix

Lando Norris will take a 22-point lead over Oscar Piastri into Sunday’s penultimate race of the Formula 1 season as he looks to clinch a maiden world title at the Qatar Grand Prix.

Briton Norris will start from second on the grid at the Lusail International Circuit after being forced to abandon his final lap in qualifying following a mistake at the second corner, allowing McLaren team-mate and main title rival Piastri to snatch top spot.

After Qatar, the final race follows in Abu Dhabi on December 7. McLaren have already long since wrapped up a second consecutive constructors’ title.
