The man was sentenced to over five years in prison.
A drug dealer who supplied cocaine and cannabis in Peterborough was sent to prison on his birthday. Cambridgeshire Police conducted a warrant at Frankie Fitzgerald’s property on October.
Officers found cocaine and cannabis worth up to £1,595, along with designer goods and an extendable baton. A stolen moped with false plates was also discovered in the garden.
When officers questioned the 29-year-old about the extendable baton, Fitzgerald asked why officers were allowed to carry them, but he wasn’t. Phones seized at the property were analysed and revealed content consistent with drug dealing activity, including a debt sheet.
Fitzgerald, of Ellwood Avenue, Stanground, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday (December 8) where he was sentenced to five years and seven months in prison. He admitted to possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis, as well as possessing criminal property, handling stolen goods, and possessing an offensive weapon in a private place.
DC Nik Loizou said: “This may not have been the birthday present Fitzgerald was hoping for, but it once again demonstrates that crime doesn’t pay. He thought he could get away with dealing these substances, but his actions caught up with him.
“Drugs like these trap people in addiction and can cause misery for our communities. Their use is often linked to anti-social behaviour and violence, among other crimes.
“We’re working hard to tackle the issue and bring drug dealers before the courts. I’d encourage anyone with information about drug supply to contact us.”
