Chloe Hipson, 21, from Bellshill, tragically died in a two-vehicle collision in Ireland.
The family of a young Scottish woman who was killed in a crash in Ireland have said “every day is a struggle” in an emotional poem written in the order of service at her funeral.
Chloe Hipson, from Bellshill, tragically died in the two-vehicle collision on Ardee Road in the town of Gibbstown in Dundalk, County Louth, at 9pm on Saturday, November 15.
The 21-year-old had been travelling with her friends Alan McCluskey, 23, Chloe McGee, 23, Dylan Commins, 23, and Shay Duffy, 21, when the vehicle collided with a Toyota Land Cruiser. All five tragically died.
Chloe’s funeral service took place at Daldowie Crematorium in Glasgow on Tuesday and the family paid tribute in a poem written in the order of service.
It read: “To A Loving Daughter In Heaven. Our time together was special. So were the memories we made. And although you live in Heaven now. Those memories never fade. I bow my head in silence. And remember my daughter with love. And I know that you are up there. Watching from above.
“Every day’s a struggle. And nothing feels the same. And my heart breaks a little more. Every time I hear your name. You’ll always be remembered. And time may heal my heart.
“But a piece of me is missing. Since the day we had to part. If Heaven is for Angels. Then I know that’s where you’ll be. And I know you will be waiting. When Heaven calls for me.”
Mourners filled the hall after her white coffin was brought into the crematorium, with the service being live streamed. The coffin, adorned with flowers, arrived in a white horse-drawn carriage.
In another tribute from Chloe’s siblings, the family wrote: “In Loving Memory of our Wonderful Sister. Of all the special gifts in life however great or small, to have you as our Sister was the greatest gift of all. May the winds of love blow softly and whisper in your ear ‘We love and miss you Sister and wish that you were here’.
“Deep in our hearts, your life is kept to love and cherish, not forget. No more tomorrows we can share but yesterdays are always there. A silent thought, a secret tear keeps your memory ever near. In our hearts forever.”
Conducting the service, Rev Peter Davidge said Chloe had made Ireland her home and she was “flourishing” there. Sadly, he also told how her beloved partner, AJ Finlay, had been planning to propose to her on Christmas Eve having sought permission from her father and brother.
Rev Davidge said: “She was thriving and she was happy, and she was not scared to try out new things.”
He continued: “I think everyone spoke of Chloe as the most perfect person in the family. She never argued with anyone, she just got on with life.
“She, as you know, lost her life so absolutely tragically alongside some other wonderful young people – her pals Alan, Chloe, Shay and Dylan. We, today here in Scotland, think of all their families. And of those beautiful young people.”
Mourners were shown pictures and video clips of Chloe’s life. Rev Davidge also read a poem titled Chloe, written by some of her friends in Ireland.
The song Jealous Of The Angels was played as curtains were drawn on her coffin. Giving a prayer, Rev Davidge said: “We think of Chloe – for always perfect, for always 21, for always just a lovely person.”
The exit song was Dancing in the Sky by Dani and Lizzy. Chloe was pictured celebrating her 21st birthday at a party just two months ago.
It’s understood she was a second year student at the Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) where she was studying to become a quantity surveyor. She is believed to have moved to Ireland to work for a construction firm after graduating from South Lanarkshire College.
Her cousin Elizabeth Elliot previously told how the family have been left “broken” by Chloe’s untimely death.
Speaking to the Record, Elizabeth said: “Chloe was a beautiful, smart soul and did life right. She was loved by so many and this has left the biggest dent in the family with her gaining her wings so early.
“She will be with her granda Billy Hipson in heaven now. So heartbroken. Your mum and dad and brothers gave you the best life there is and that’s how you were such an angel.
“We are all here to support the Hipson’s in this cruel sad time. Goodnight Chloe. Rest in peace now. We are all heartbroken for you. Everyone is so broken.”
