Stanwick Lakes has a packed schedule of activities over the Christmas period that the whole family will enjoy

Over the festive period, it is likely that you will be meeting up with friends and family for a catch up and to share some Christmas cheer. One way to make a Christmas get together even more special is to go for an afternoon tea.

If you are looking for something different to do, you might want to take a trip out of Cambridgeshire to see what the surrounding counties have going on for the holidays. For Christmas, the beautiful nature reserve, Stanwick Lakes, will be running a range of activities including a festive afternoon tea.

The afternoon tea will include a range of traditional sweet and savoury treats like scones and finger sandwiches and a few with a festive twist such as mini mince pies, rum truffles, Baileys profiteroles, and roast beef wrapped in a mini Yorkshire pudding. Your afternoon tea will be served with your choice of tea, coffee, or a hot chocolate.

The afternoon tea costs £24.95 per person or you can opt for the sparkling afternoon tea, which costs £31.95. The afternoon tea can be booked through the Stanwick Lakes website.

The afternoon tea will be running every day from Monday, November 24, until Tuesday, December 23. You can choose between the 1.30pm and 3pm time slots.

After enjoying your afternoon tea, you could get involved in one of the other festive activities taking place at the nature reserve. If you love using your artistic skills, there are a few craft sessions happening including wreath making where you will be using locally sourced materials to create a festive wreath while sipping on a glass of fizz.

For the whole family, there is also the opportunity to get involved in festive pottery painting where you can design your own plates, baubles, and mugs as well as a Christmas trail to follow around the site where you will get a small festive prize if you complete it. There is no need to book these activities, you can just show up to Stanwick Lakes and get involved at the Visitor Centre.

Also for children, there is the opportunity to meet Santa in his Christmas grotto. Children will get the chance to make their own natural Christmas decoration and take a photo with Santa to remember the day by.

The individual sessions cost £13.50 and the group sessions costs a little less at £9.50. For an extra £10, you can add on an Elfish Activity Passport that includes pottery painting, a trail pack, and Christmas crafts to make the most out of your trip.

The Stanwick Lakes nature reserve is around a 51 minute drive away from Cambridge via the A14. The nature reserve has a car park on site that costs from £3.70 to £6.90 depending on how long you want to stay there.
