Firefighters called to blaze at building in Cambridge

Firefighters remain at the scene

Fire crews from Cambridge have been battling a fire which broke out in a building in Barnwell. Crews from Cambridge and Burwell were called at 11.06am today (Janaury 21) with reports of a building fire on Barnwell Road.

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used hose reels to extinguish the fire. Crews are currently still at the scene.

Firefighters are using a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke from the building.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 11.06am crews from Cambridge and Burwell were called to a building fire on Barnwell Road in Cambridge.

“Wearing breathing apparatus firefighters extinguished the fire using hose reels.

“Crews are still at the scene clearing the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.”
