The former Duke of York was seen wearing the emblem of the regiment in Windsor despite losing the honorary colonel role in 2022 when he was stripped of all royal patronages and military affiliations

The disgraced former prince Andrew was recently seen sporting a Grenadier Guards jumper, despite no longer holding the position of its colonel. The former Duke of York was spotted in a burgundy sweatshirt bearing the regiment’s emblem while driving around Windsor.

Previously, Andrew held the honorary title of colonel of the Grenadier Guards, a role he inherited from his late father, Prince Philip. After only four years, he was relieved of this honour in 2022. The title reverted to the late Queen when Andrew lost all his royal patronages and military affiliations.

This followed Virginia Giufrre’s civil lawsuit against Andrew, in which she alleged that he sexually abused her as a teenager. The case did not proceed to court after a £12million settlement was reached. Andrew denies all allegations made against him, reports the Mirror.

In late October, the King formally stripped his disgraced brother Andrew of his HRH style, prince title, and removed his dukedom from the Roll of the Peerage due to his “serious lapses” in judgement.

This action came after the posthumous publication of a memoir by Andrew’s accuser, Virginia Giuffre, and the release of documents from Epstein’s estate by the US government. It was revealed that Andrew had emailed Epstein in 2011 stating “we’re in this together”, three months after he claimed to have severed all ties with the convicted sex offender.

The disgraced former Duke of York is reportedly spending his remaining time at his current Windsor residence, Royal Lodge, before being relocated to a more modest property on the Sandringham estate.

He is expected to make the transition on his own, as his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who presently resides with him at Royal Lodge, will not be accompanying him to his new accommodation. A confidant of Andrew’s has previously expressed worries to the Daily Mail about his ‘fragile’ mental state.

The impending relocation to Sandringham appears to be gathering pace, with technicians recently observed fitting Sky television and internet services at what is understood to be his prospective residence. Workers donning Sky VIP Team-branded attire were photographed at Marsh Farm on the King’s private Norfolk estate, the property where the former Duke is anticipated to settle once he vacates Royal Lodge.

This development coincided with large removal lorries being spotted at the 30-room Windsor property, while insiders hinted the former prince’s relocation might be completed before the month’s end.

Marsh Farm lies approximately seven miles from the principal Sandringham House, and the no-fly zone covering the royal estate has been expanded to encompass the dwelling.

Whilst the property includes a main house, its two reception areas and kitchen are reportedly undergoing substantial refurbishment. Buckingham Palace has declined to verify whether this will serve as Andrew’s new residence.
