Gateshead’s Bruce Express business celebrates with Mercedes
Bruce Express Ltd, based on the Team Valley in Gateshead, is marking its five-decade milestone with the purchase of a new, fully customised Mercedes truck.
The vehicle has been commissioned by chief executive officer Bradley Bruce as a gesture of recognition for his father, Barry Bruce, who founded the haulage and logistics company in 1972.
Bradley Bruce said: “Taking over the business gave me the opportunity to reflect on everything my father put into building Bruce Express.
“This investment is about the future – improving our fleet and continuing to raise standards – but it’s also about recognising the legacy that made that possible in the first place.”
The new truck combines advanced technology and operational capability with a deep sense of personal and professional meaning.
It symbolises both the future direction of the company and the vision that shaped its past.
Bruce Express began as a North East venture and has grown into a respected logistics provider serving customers across the UK and Europe.
The company now operates a modern fleet including vans, 44-tonne tractor units, and trailers, supporting time-critical and specialist logistics needs across multiple industries.
The new Mercedes truck has been designed to meet the demands of contemporary haulage and express delivery, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to efficiency and quality as part of its long-term strategy.
Barry Bruce, former CEO and founder of Bruce Express Ltd, said: “It’s great that this type of leading transport investment will continue to drive the business forward.
“I’ve always believed that, in addition to quality and service, it is our people and our culture that make us great.
“To see the next generation build on that legacy – and to do it with such purpose – fills me with immense pride.
“This gesture from Bradley embodies the heart of our family business.”
Under Bradley Bruce’s leadership, the company remains committed to blending forward-facing investment with the principles and heritage that have sustained it for more than 50 years.
The new vehicle stands as a symbol of that enduring legacy and a promise of continued growth and innovation for the future.
