Gladiators fans have same complaint moments into new series

As hosts Bradley and Barney Walsh took to the arena floor in Sheffield to kick off the new series, some viewers noticed the presenting duo each appeared to be wearing the “same” blue and red suits as they have done over the last few years.

Following introductions from this weekend’s contenders; Finn, Sam, Rachael and Naomi, someone on X said: “It’s the third series, yet Bradley and Barney Walsh are still wearing the same suits.”

Another put: “3rd series and the Bradley & barney still have 1 suit.”

However, this person slightly disagreed, tweeting: “Barney has a new suit. Brad doesn’t i think.”

It seems this isn’t the first time fans have noticed Bradley and Barney appearing to wear the same outfit on Gladiators, as during the second series last year, this viewer posted on Reddit: “Are Bradley and Barney ever going to change their suits?

“I mean, come on! They’ve worn exactly the same one in every single episode so far.”

They added: “It’s literally the first thing I notice every episode.”

This account replied: “I believe it’s more of a uniform, as they are red and blue, much like the Gladiators Spandex and the contestants Spandex. It makes sense to wear the same uniform for continuity and easy recognition.”

One profile chimed in: “No, it’s for production reasons, as in, continuity.

“The finished episode we’re shown isn’t filmed in the same order as what is edited.

“Like a bigger version of why they make Bake Off contestants wear the same thing for each two day filming segment. So they can splice in footage from any of those two days, whether or not its truthful and related to that moment or not.”

In series three of the BBC game show, viewers see will familiar Gladiator faces return to the Sheffield arena, including Apollo, Athena, Bionic, Comet, Cyclone and Diamond.

Dynamite, Electro, Fire, Fury and The Giant will also return for the new series alongside Hammer, Legend, Nitro, Phantom, Sabre, Steel and Viper.

Gladiators continues next Saturday (January 24) on BBC One and iPlayer from 5.45pm.
