Glasgow radio presenter Ewen Cameron hospitalised after ‘falling on black ice’

The incident happened near the OVO Hyrdo in the city amid weather warnings.

Radio presenter Ewen Cameron was hospitalised after what he described as a fall on ‘black ice’ near the OVO Hydro in Glasgow. The radio host, who presents STV’s Ewen and Cat at Breakfast, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in an ambulance after the slip, which took place at around 11am this morning, Saturday, January 10.

Cameron announced the injury on X with a snap of his leg in a bright orange brace, reports Glasgow Live.

The host wrote: “I fell on black ice at 11am this morning, near the Hydro. I can’t thank Frankie and Gaz enough for their brilliant care when they turned up in their ambulance. Thanks to Bernadette, nurse, and to all the staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.”

It comes as Glasgow has faced a series of Met Office yellow warnings for snow and ice, with the city set to come under another moderate alert from 2am tomorrow, January 11, until 3pm.

The national weather forecaster has warned of disruption to travel and a chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

The Met’s yellow alert also comes with a risk of possible stranded vehicles and passengers on roads within the warning area.
