The reservoir is offering a free round of mini golf for children under 16 that are accompanied by a full paying adult.

After spending a lot of money over Christmas and New Year’s, you might be trying to budget a bit more for January to start the year off right. However, if you have children to keep occupied over the month, you might be looking for some budget-friendly things to do in Cambridgeshire.

If you do not mind braving the colder weather and want to get outdoors, you might want to visit Grafham Water. Found just outside of Huntingdon, the reservoir offers a range of land and water-based activities throughout the year to get involved in.

Throughout January, Grafham Water will be offering a free round of mini golf for children under 16 with every full-paying adult. The mini golf course can be found close to the visitor centre and features 12 holes to compete against your family on.

The mini golf course has a water and conservation theme to match the reservoir. There are many “looping and spiralling obstacles” to tackle.

The mini golf costs £6 per person with clubs and balls available to pick up at the visitor centre. The mini golf course is open from 10am daily.

After a round of mini golf, you could also take a walk around the reservoir, which has 2,400 acres of countryside to explore. If you want to spot some wildlife, you can watch the “diverse set of mammal and amphibious species” from the hide.

For children, there are children’s playgrounds for them to let off some steam in and nature trails to keep them engaged during a walk. In terms of food, the visitor centre has a café where you can get a hot drink and a snack and take a seat overlooking the lake to relax for a bit.

A spokesperson for Grafham Water said: “Celebrate Grafham turning 60 in 2026 with a free round of mini golf for the little ones!

“Looking for a fun family day out this January? Join us for a round of mini golf from 1 January and up to two under-16s go free with every full-paying adult. T&Cs apply.

“Why not make a day of it and walk along the dam to our newly refurbished Harbour View Café complete with a kids activity station, or have a bounce on the jumping pillow.”
