Now aged 61, the star, who grew up in Dudley, Northumberland, has also made his mark in films such as Me and Mrs Jones and A Night on the Tyne. The actor – who recently paid tribute to a co-star – even ventured into the music industry as one half of the chart-topping duo Robson and Jerome.

Here’s a look at some of Robson’s most memorable roles, his experience with losing treasured items in a flood, and his personal life, which includes two divorces.

Robson Green’s standout roles

Robson began acting from a young age, featuring in school productions, and made his television debut in his early 20s with a role in Casualty, reports the Mirror.

He then portrayed fusilier Dave Tucker in the drama series Soldier Soldier, starring in the popular show from 1991 to 1995.

Further shows followed, such as Touching Evil and Grafters, and in 2002 he was cast as clinical psychologist Dr Tony Hill in the crime drama Wire in the Blood, a role he held until 2008.

Other projects have included the comedy drama Christmas Lights, Rocket Man, Waterloo Road, Being Human and Strike Back, as well as his angling show Extreme Fishing with Robson Green.

However, he is perhaps most recognised for his role in the ITV detective drama Grantchester, where he has portrayed seasoned DI Geordie Keating since 2014.

Robson Green’s love life and decision not to remarry

Robson married occupational therapist Alison Ogilvie in 1991, but their union came to an end in 1999.

He then wed his second wife, former model Vanya Seager, while she was employed as Simon Cowell’s secretary and he was recording Unchained Melody with Jerome Flynn. The couple welcomed a son, Taylor Robson Green, in April 2000, before tying the knot in 2001.

However, after 10 years of marriage, the pair decided to go their separate ways and their divorce was finalised in 2013. Speaking to the Daily Mail, the actor explained that the couple “just grew apart”.

“I don’t blame it on the career,” he stated. “It’s just we were different and we didn’t develop together. My mind went in one direction, hers in the other.”

Robson found love once more with Zoila Short, whom he reportedly met at a gym. However, in a 2023 interview with The Times, he indicated that despite being “very happy”, there were no plans for marriage, admitting: “No, I’ve done enough of that.”

‘Devastated’ by 2015 flood

In 2015, the star’s historic 350-year-old home was ravaged by a disastrous flood, resulting in the loss of many cherished items.

Speaking to Radio Times, he recalled: “In 2015 my house was under seven feet of water, destroyed in a flood. Everything precious and personal in my life, just washed away. It was very painful, I was devastated. Not only were there salmon going down the Tyne that day, my three-piece suite was, too.”

In a subsequent interview with the Mail on Sunday, he explained: “It was the perfect storm. There was a massive amount of rain, a spring tide, and at the same time the Kielder Water dam had to release 20 cubic metres of water a second to prevent it bursting. I’m right on the apex of where all this water met, and a huge surge swelled up straight through my house.”
