It’s the best rated restaurant in the area online based on reviews
A popular restaurant and takeaway in Greater Manchester which has been listed as one of the best in its town has gone up for sale after more than a decade.
Hoya’s Cantonese Restaurant, on Rochdale Road East in Heywood, was opened by owner Lin Ngan more than 15 years ago. It is currently named the number one best-rated restaurant in Heywood on TripAdvisor. It has also been previously named by the platform as one of the best Chinese restaurants in the entire country.
The restaurant has an impressive 4.7 rating on the site, with a customer hailing the venue in one recent review for their ‘absolutely beautiful dinner and friendly service’. Another customer review said: “Lovely food, excellent service. Friendly atmosphere. Lin looks after us so well. The food is gorgeous and plenty of it.”
Its extensive menu features more than 180 dishes, ranging from soups, appetisers, curries, dim sum, fillet steak and sauce-based dishes. Its recommended meals include stuffed green peppers or mushrooms with king prawn meat, as well as Cantonese-style dishes featuring a ‘sweet and fruity’ sauce. It also became known for its gluten-free selection of meals too.
However, it has now been announced that Lin has decided the time is right to pass over the reins to the restaurant. Listing the business for sale with specialist business property adviser Christie & Co, Lin, who did not wish to speak further about the decision to sell up, said she is looking for an experienced operator and hopes the name can continue under their leadership.
On the market with a freehold asking price of £400,000, the 60-cover restaurant has a fully equipped commercial kitchen, as well as parking and spacious four-bed accommodation. Christie & Co said this makes for ‘an ideal opportunity for an experienced operator or investor looking to acquire a thriving business’.
In a statement, business agent James Dodd, who is managing the sale at Christie & Co, said: “Hoya’s Cantonese offers a fantastic opportunity to acquire a well-established restaurant with a strong local following. With 60 covers, a fully equipped kitchen, parking, and owner’s accommodation, this freehold property is perfectly suited for an experienced operator looking to step into a hospitality business in the heart of Heywood.”
More than ten years ago, Hoya’s was named the fifth best Chinese restaurant in the UK by TripAdvisor. It marked one of only two Greater Manchester establishments to make it into the top ten list at the time. In recent years, it’s remained at the top of Heywood’s restaurants on the platform, and has also bee praised for the ‘best chow mein’ in the area.
The online listing for Hoya’s can be found on the Christie & Co website.
