We’re delighted to report that YOU have helped make December 25 extra-special for so many youngsters.
Hundreds of disadvantaged children across South Lanarkshire will wake up to a bundle of gifts under their Christmas tree – thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our readers.
Once again the Hamilton Advertiser’s festive toy appeal ended on a high, and we’re delighted to report that YOU have helped make December 25 extra-special for so many youngsters.
It is thanks to your Christmas kindness that gifts have been delivered to over 800 children across Hamilton, Larkhall, Lanark, Stonehouse, Strathaven, Blantyre, Bothwell and Uddingston.
And the continued support of the Lanarkshire public has meant that the annual toy appeal keeps on delivering over the festive season.
Advertiser toy appeal coordinator Leona Greenan said: “Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to the Hamilton Advertiser Toy Appeal. It means so much to so many children that people keep donating year after year.
“Many thanks also go to the wonderful team of volunteers at the Hamilton Salvation Army, and to their captain Wendy Leisk, who give up so much of their time every year to ensure the gifts go to the children that need them most.
“And thanks also go to every individual, church, business and organisation who has helped the toy appeal – including Montessori Nursery in Bothwell, Mecca Bingo Hamilton, Rocca restaurant in Hamilton, Ferring Therapeutic in East Kilbride, Oticon Hamilton and so many more.
“We team up with the council’s Social Work department, Community Mental Health Team, the Trussell Trust and other agencies to ensure that these gifts help make Christmas extra-special for disadvantaged children – thank you so much.”
