Scotland has welcomed in the New Year in traditional style after Hogmanay celebrations

Revellers were once again back on the streets of Edinburgh for the celebrations after stormy weather cancelled many of the events planned for Hogmanay 2024.

Despite facing chilly weather conditions, the massive crowd in Edinburgh cheered and counted down before the clock struck midnight on December 31.

Fireworks lit up the capital with 10,000 shots filling the sky over Princes Street Gardens to a curated soundtrack.

More than 55,000 from across the world gathered in the heart of Scotland’s capital to wave goodbye to 2025.

People travelled from as far as the Netherlands, Poland, Iran and California to join the celebrations at the Home of Hogmanay.

As many as 45,000 people brought in the New Year at the capital’s famous Street Party while another 10,000 gathered in Princes Street Gardens for music headlined by the Grammy award-winning Wet Leg.

Elsewhere in Scotland, the annual Stonehaven Fireballs parade spectacular took place in Aberdeenshire and the people of Clydesdale welcomed in the New Year with the annual Biggar Bonfire.
