Helen Skelton opens up about her life after turning 40

Helen, best known for her work presenting Blue Peter and Countryfile, described herself as “chaotic, but great fun,” and said she has found freedom in the disorder of her life as a broadcaster and single mother of three.

Talking to Prima magazine, the 42-year-old said she adopted the phrase: “We are who we are.”

The presenter said: “My house is chaos, my car’s a tip, I’m probably going to be late.

“I’ll turn up to a kid’s birthday party without the present wrapped and when my friends come to dinner, they bring their own food. I’m chaotic, but I’m great fun!”

Following her 2022 split from rugby player Richie Myler, with whom she shares three children, Helen competed in Strictly and is now a familiar face on BBC1’s Morning Live.

Discussing her balance of parenting and career, she told the magazine: “I used to stress about coming back to work after having my kids, but now they love what I do.”

Considering her future, she added: “Nothing’s promised, so I’m big on saying yes – go for lunch, go away for the weekend, stay up late, have the pizza.”

She also highlighted the need for ‘spending time with people who make you belly laugh’ adding: “Take the pressure off. Spend time with people who make you belly laugh – that’s the real reset.”
