‘He’ll be coming back’ – Sir Gino update after Nicky Henderson superstar suffered heartbreaking Cheltenham injury

JOCKEY Nico de Boinville has provided a fresh update on Sir Gino – after the Nicky Henderson-trained superstar suffered a heartbreaking injury at Cheltenham.
The former favourite for the Champion Hurdle broke his pelvis after being sent off odds-on for the Unibet Hurdle last Saturday.
Cheltenham fell quiet as punters preyed for good news on his condition after he walked into the horse ambulance.
Henderson confirmed Sir Gino had fractured his pelvis and was receiving the best of care at the Three Counties Veterinary Clinic.
De Boinville gave more information on his condition when speaking on Sky Sports following his win on Quay Item at Plumpton on Monday.
And he said it was good news, with Sir Gino set to return to Lambourn, where Henderson’s Seven Barrows yard is based, at some stage in the future.
De Boinville said: “It’s really good news on Sir Gino.
“George Daly, our assistant, went down to see him and took a few photos of him and he seems comfortable.
“He’s at Three Counties vets. At some stage he’ll be coming back to Lambourn.”
