- A historic castle on the Isle of Skye that dates back hundreds of years is currently looking to hire new staff, with live-in accommodation provided for the successful applicant. Dunvegan Castle and Gardens is situated just outside of the village of Dunvegan, and around 21 miles from the island’s main town of Portree.
- At the moment, Dunvegan Castle is recruiting a guide and visitor assistant on a full-time basis, though part-time applicants will also be considered. Set amidst the 41,000-acre MacLeod Estate, the castle has been the ancestral home of the Chiefs of Clan MacLeod for eight centuries and welcomes around 180,000 visitors each year.
- Some of the tasks expected of the Dunvegan Castle and Gardens guide and visitor assistant will be participating in tours of the castle, helping visitors and giving them accurate and up-to-date information, and dealing with complaints and issues. The successful candidate will also need to monitor Dunvegan Castle’s access points and report any suspicious activity.
- Those applying for the job should be friendly, be able to multi-task, and have experience in a customer-facing role. Applicants should also possess an interest in Scottish history and heritage and have a valid driving license, while speaking a foreign language would also be advantageous.
