US President Donald Trump has threatened the ‘destruction’ of Iran just 24 hours after a ceasefire deal was announced, warning ‘the shooting starts’ if the ‘real agreement’ is not complied with
US President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning about the potential ‘destruction’ of Iran merely 24 hours following the announcement of a ceasefire agreement.
In a late-night post on Truth Social on Wednesday, April 8, Trump declared that American military forces and weaponry would stay deployed in the region.
The message stated: “All U.S. Ships, Aircraft, and Military Personnel, with additional Ammunition, Weaponry, and anything else that is appropriate and necessary for the lethal prosecution and destruction of an already substantially degraded Enemy, will remain in place in, and around, Iran, until such time as the REAL AGREEMENT reached is fully complied with.”
This statement emerged just one day after the American leader announced a two-week ceasefire arrangement had been secured with Iran.
The truce already looked precarious following Israeli strikes on Lebanon, while the UAE and Kuwait endured missile and drone assaults on Wednesday, with Hezbollah launching attacks on northern Israel in the early hours of Thursday.
Hostilities have been escalating across the Middle East since February 28, when America and Israel conducted joint military operations targeting several crucial Iranian installations. Tehran responded with strikes throughout the region and imposed a blockade on the vital oil shipping channel, the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump’s statement went on: “If for any reason it is not, which is highly unlikely, then the “Shootin’ Starts,” bigger, and better, and stronger than anyone has ever seen before. It was agreed, a long time ago, and despite all of the fake rhetoric to the contrary – NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS and, the Strait of Hormuz WILL BE OPEN and SAFE.
“In the meantime our great Military is Loading Up and Resting, looking forward, actually, to its next Conquest. AMERICA IS BACK!”
The former president seems to be engaged on multiple diplomatic fronts, having issued threats towards NATO partners by floating proposals to withdraw American forces from nations deemed insufficiently cooperative during the US-Iran confrontation.
It’s reported that these military personnel would be repositioned to countries offering greater backing for American defence operations.
In an earlier Truth Social message posted the same day, Trump declared: “NATO WASN’T THERE WHEN WE NEEDED THEM, AND THEY WON’T BE THERE IF WE NEED THEM AGAIN. REMEMBER GREENLAND, THAT BIG, POORLY RUN, PIECE OF ICE!!! President DJT”
