Huge Brit music star leaves locals stunned after shutting down street to secretly shoot video days after chart success
A QUIET street was shut down and transformed into a video set by Raye.
Stunned residents spotted the singer dancing around in a glamorous red velvet dress.
Even the local postie had a shock as he tried to deliver letters and was greeted by Raye performing up and down the road in Walthamstow, East London, yesterday.
My music mole said: “While most people stayed at home because the weather was so cold, Raye was a total trooper and got to work on a big, top-secret new video.
‘Postman stopped’
“The project was shrouded in secrecy and residents on the road had only been told the street was being shut for filming. No one knew who the star was.
“Then Raye came out and she was incredible.
“It was so cold out there but she was dancing and singing in this velvet dress like a total pro. There was a fake zebra crossing drawn on the road and she was skipping over it.
“There were some people looking through the windows and the postman was stopped in his tracks.
“It was so exciting for locals to see her performing up close.”
Raye started work on the video for an upcoming single yesterday morning and didn’t finish until late afternoon, which is impressive given how freezing it is at the moment.
This is her first big project of the year and I’m not surprised she’s hit the ground running after being forced to delay the release of her second album.
Raye last year revealed her car had been nicked, and the motor had her songwriting books in it.
But in October, she confirmed police had been in contact and reunited her with the scripts.
Raye said: “My songwriting books are saved.
“There was so much important stuff in there.”
She will have been buoyed by the success of her single, Where The Hell Is My Husband!.
The song became the first No1 of the year, with Raye punching the air when she was handed her trophy last Friday.
She shared photographs of the moment she got the news online and said: “I may not have a husband but I do have a No1.”
I’d say that’s far better than an actual husband, Raye.
It’s a wrap for Coolorado Kim
KIM KARDASHIAN is giving me inspiration for my outfit the next time I leave the house.
The reality star wore huge tasselled boots and was wrapped up in black leather, with a large fluffy scarf, hat and shades to brave the cold in Colorado.
Temperatures dropped to minus 1 for Kim yesterday.
But that’s not a patch on where I live in Essex, where it’s been minus 5 for the past two days.
Kristen’s thighlight zone
I THOUGHT we’d left the “underwear as outerwear” trend in 2025 – but Kristen Stewart is dragging it right back into fashion.
The Twilight actress wore a sheer skirt that showed off her black pants as she headed to NBC’s TV studios in New York.
During her interview on Entertainment Tonight, K-Stew confirmed she’d be keen to return to the Twilight saga but not as Bella Swan – the character who sent her stratospheric – but rather as a director.
Praising the film’s previous bosses, Kristen said: “I love what Catherine [Hardwicke] did, I love what Chris [Weitz] did, I love what all of the directors did with the movies.
“Imagine if we had a huge budget and a bunch of love and support.
“I would love to re-adapt. I’ll do the remake.
“I’m doing it, I’m committed.”
DAVID BOWIE’s streams have soared by almost 500 per cent after his 1977 song Heroes was used during the closing credits of the Stranger Things finale.
The last episode dropped on Netflix on New Year’s Day.
It has now been revealed that listens of the track jumped from an average of 94,000 to 470,000 per day in the first week of 2026.
The song was picked by actor and singer Joe Keery, who plays Steve Harrington, after Peter Gabriel’s cover of it was used in earlier series.
Show creator Ross Duffer said: “To use the original Bowie version just felt fitting for the conclusion.”
THE film charting Paris Hilton’s life and career is coming to cinemas on January 30.
Infinite Icon: A Visual Memoir sees Paris’s pals, including SIA, Nicole Richie and Meghan Trainor, help narrate her story from millionaire heiress to cultural icon.
As Paris would say, she is sliving.
SOLO GIGS DEFINITELY A NICE EARNER FOR LIAM
LIAM and Noel Gallagher raked it in from the Oasis reunion tour, making a rumoured £50million each.
Official figures are yet to be made public but singer Liam was doing all right as a solo artist before cooling his long-running feud with Noel.
Accounts filed by his firm LG Touring LLP show he made around £3million from gigs in the year ending March 31, 2025.
He made the cash from his sell-out 2024 UK tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of Oasis’s debut album, Definitely Maybe – as well as his headline appearance at the Liam Gallagher and Friends Malta Weekender festival.
The value of Liam’s firm rocketed from £596,000 to almost £3.5million, accounts filed at Companies House show.
He recently bought ex-Arsenal captain Tony Adams’ Cotswolds pile for £4.25million, so some of his earnings could help pay for that, I suppose.
Every little helps.
NOEL: AN HONOUR TO DO BOND THEME
MEANWHILE, Liam’s brother Noel confirmed he’d be up for recording the new title track for the next James Bond film.
I revealed last month that Oasis were in the sights of director Denis Villeneuve, who is heading up the next instalment in the 007 franchise.
Appearing on Talk Sport, Noel was asked what he’d do if Bond boss Barbara Broccoli called him up and asked him and Liam to record the song.
Noel replied: “I’d say, ‘All right Babs, yeah of course’.
“It’d be an absolute honour, you know. I think those kinds of things should be done by Brits.”
Putting himself forward for a role, Noel added: “I’ll play a villain. A Mancunian villain.”
Dr No-el is expecting you, Mr Bond.
THERE’S LIFE ON MARS
BRUNO MARS will finally return in 2026 with his first solo album in a decade.
He joins a raft of other major acts turbo-charging the music biz by releasing material.
His last solo record was 2016’s 24K Magic, featuring hits including That’s What I Like, Finesse and the title track. It won six Grammys.
Now Bruno has taken to social media with a simple message that has thrilled fans: “My album is done.”
And you don’t have long to wait, because I’ve heard the first single will be out on Friday.
It’s got me very excited for the next 12 months.
Harry Styles has completed his fourth studio album, which fans can expect to hear something from soon.
Madonna has also been working on her next project, a sequel to 2005 album Confessions On A Dance Floor.
Pop trailblazer Robyn will drop her album Sexistential, while Beyonce is due to release the third act of her trilogy of records, following 2022’s Renaissance and 2024’s Cowboy Carter, which is expected to be rock-influenced.
And Rita Ora wrote on X: “2026 feels like it’s about to be a good year . . . ” alongside a photo of “ALBUM 4” written in pen.
With all of these on the horizon, I better get saving for the incredible tours that will inevitably follow.
Olivia reddy with new album
OLIVIA RODRIGO posed in a skimpy red outfit as she also teased a return to music.
She had a fantastic 2025, which saw her headline Glastonbury and has already started hinting at a third studio album.
The singer, whose breakout hit Drivers License came out five years ago this week, shared a series of snaps on Instagram, including this one, and another of a golf cart featuring the words “The Album”.
Her website suggests we could get to hear the first offering from it tomorrow.
Olivia has also updated her page to include a “driver’s license application for renewal” with an appointment set for Thursday at 5pm, UK time.
I’ll set my watch and prepare for a singalong.
LABEL-SPLIT PINNOCK ‘GHOSTED’
LEIGH-ANNE PINNOCK says she was “ghosted” by her record label Warner Music before splitting from it last year.
She told Paloma Faith on her Mad, Sad & Bad podcast: “I fell out with my label and left them. It was crazy.
“They weren’t responding to us, basically ghosting. It was wild. How can you do that to someone?
“The head of the label actually rang and exited the call after two rings, so I had no explanation, really. So that was quite brutal. I didn’t know what was going on.”
She will finally release her debut album My Ego Told Me So, as an independent artist, on February 20.
The My Love singer went on to say she still can’t resist checking what people say about her online.
Leigh-Anne added: “Trolls make me mad but I do still look. I still search my name in X. I need to stop. I know it’s the worst one.”
ZAYN has hinted he will premiere new music during his Las Vegas residency, which kicks off in a fortnight.
Teasing that he too has a record coming in 2026, the singer said of his Sin City setlist: “There’s a song off the new album, I don’t know if I want to say what name that is, but yeah, I’m looking forward to singing that.”
SOPHIE’S GAME FOR A RETURN
SOPHIE TURNER has revealed the cast weren’t happy with the ill-fated Game Of Thrones finale, which was savaged by viewers.
The last episode in 2019 was slated but Sophie who played Sansa Stark and was crowned Queen in the North, said she was one of the only ones happy with the outcome – and would consider a return.
After author George R. R. Martin revealed “there are some sequels” in the pipeline, she said of a potential return: “I think it would be hard but also amazing to come back to it. But I feel that I was very happy with the way Sansa ended her story in Game Of Thrones, and no one else was really happy with their ending.”
She told The Direct: “I feel like I got a good one, and so I don’t know if I could revisit it.
“Maybe it would be an utter joy, or maybe it would be trying to cling on to something that was magic back in the day that can’t be recreated. I would have to see a script.”
