I Escaped to the Country: Dr Ranj Singh visits Bury

Celebrity Escape to the Country – named as ‘I Escaped to the Country’, is a new spin-off following the original show.

It was filmed in 2023 and saw Dr Ranj Singh visit Greenmount in search of a countryside relocation.

With him is presenter Denise Nurse, and the two kicked off the series on January 2, on BBC One at 3pm.

The episode is available to watch on BBC iPlayer and follows Denise checking in on Dr Ranj after he has renovated an old moorland water tower and transformed it into a fashionable home.

The doctor is, of course, known for his work as a TV presenter on the CBeebies show Get Well Soon that aired from 2012 to 2015.

He was also a celebrity dancer on season 16 of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing where he was paired with Janette Manrara and was a resident doctor on ITV’s This Morning from 2016 to 2021.

In addition, with Welsh journalist Sian Williams, he co-hosted Save Money: Good Health.

First launching in 2002, the BBC’s longest-running property show, Escape to the Countr,y has showcased an idyllic look into rural Britain’s property market, giving urban homeowners an insight into a prospective country life.

Guided by the property experts, the buyers decide whether or not to swap the hustle and bustle of city living in favour of the slower quietude of the countryside.

The show is now getting a celebrity revisit.

The property in the first episode has a dizzying five flights of stairs between the ground floor and the roof garden.

Once Denise makes it to the top, she is delighted to find Dr Ranj hosting a housewarming party.

The stunning Greenmount property on Tower Court offers buyers the unique opportunity to live in their own castle.

Set in the heart of the Kirklees Trail Nature Reserve, the home offers uninterrupted views that range from Peel Tower to Manchester city centre.

The focal point of the property is the tower, which was built in 1840.
