I quit the UK for Spain but here’s 6 things I miss

A BRITISH mum-of-two who ditched the UK for sunny Spain with her family has revealed the six things she misses most.

Paige and her family sold their home in the UK in just seven days, before taking a one-way flight to Spain three months later.

Now, they live in a stunning three-bedroom house in Alicante with a pool just three doors down.

But despite living their best life, having secured a three-year-visa and enrolled their two boys into school, Paige has admitted to missing several things about the UK – including a very popular budget shop.

In a clip shared to TikTok (@paigeaw22), she begins by saying the first thing she misses is “proper all-in-one shop for gifts.”

She goes on to explain that in the UK you get one shop which will sells kids’ gifts, wrapping paper a bag and a card, whereas in Spain she says you have to go to three different places.

“Spain’s food is amazing, but sometimes you just want something greasy and questionable at 11pm,” she says.

Paige also admits she’s pining after some “decent cheddar cheese” – adding that while Spain has cheese, none of them are that “strong, sharp UK cheddar you can feel in your soul.”

Crisps are another food item that the mum-of-two misses – particularly multipacks.

She explains that in a UK supermarket you can get a 24-pack for £2, but in Spain you get “one sad little bag.”

As for shops, Paige admits she would love nothing more than to be able to take a quick trip to Home Bargains or B&M.

Why B&M is so good for bargains

SENIOR Digital Writer, Abby Wilson, who loves a shopping trip to B&M, has shared her thoughts on why the chain is the place to go for bargain buys…

WE all love B&M (especially me). It’s a one-stop-shop where you can nab all things from gardenware and homeware, to snacks and cleaning supplies.

Not only do we love the variety B&M offers (because after all, who can be bothered to go to five different shops anymore?!), but the prices are brilliant too.

If you’re on a budget, B&M is definitely worth vising – as it’s full of cheap bargain buys.

Not only will you find affordable items, but B&M is full of dupes too – so if you’re after beauty buys without the designer price tag, you’ll need to take a trip.

Similar to this, the chain are eager to get on trends – so if you see something in H&M Home but are on a budget and can’t justify the price, give it a few weeks and you’ll probably spot something similar on the shelves in your local B&M.

Speaking of the UK, she says: “£4 later and you’ve accidentally bought seasonable decor, cleaning supplies, snacks, candles and a random plant pot.”

However, in Spain she says there’s no equivalent and notes: “You miss the chaos, the bargains, the dopamine hit.”

She captioned the post: “Takeaways and wasting money unnecessarily at B&M and Home Bargains is not a bad thing but boy do I miss the opportunities to have a mooch around B&M – especially for stocking fillers!”

The post has since gone viral, racking up a whopping 188k views and several comments from social media users.

“Honestly miss buying things reduced down to like 2p, 15p bags of potatoes Christmas time, they don’t sell strong chilli’s etc, never find pitta bread, naan etc,” wrote one.

A second penned: “I’m Spanish, lived in the UK for 11 years before I moved back to Spain and I FULLY agree with everything.”

A third commented: “Home Bargains and Tesco for everything you could possibly need are sadly missed.”
