After just seven months of newlywed life, a young couple are now faced with horrific injuries after a huge crash that killed four people – and have recalled the haunting moments

A newlywed couple are facing devastating life changing injuries after a horror crash that left four people dead. Georgina Daniels, 28, and husband Tom, 29, tied the knot just seven months ago, but are now both in hospital after the horrific crash in Bolton during the early hours of January 11.

The couple have had four surgeries between them, and are currently forced to be apart due to their injuries. Georgina has recalled the haunting recollections, and said she “can’t fathom how we’re all still alive – it should have taken our lives. I have no idea how we’re all still here after seeing what happened to everyone and the state we are all in.” While Georgina said she remembers everything, she said her husband doesn’t have much memory of it.

The couple were in a taxi with two other friends when the horrific crash occurred, said Georgina, adding: “It’s been an incredibly tough ordeal for all four of us who were in that taxi. Tom remembers bits of it, a lot of it he doesn’t remember. For some reason, I remember every single second of it. That’s helped with statements and explaining it to people around us. I remember it as if it was 10 minutes ago. What I’ll say is that it was quite a long event, we didn’t get into ambulances quickly. I can’t fathom how we’re all still alive – it should have taken our lives.

“I have no idea how we’re all still here after seeing what happened to everyone and the state we are all in. The biggest shock of all is that we are all still here. It was just devastation. We have no expectations, we are just living hour by hour. We are trying to be positive and trying to get back to how we were in those pictures. That’s the only thing we can look forward to,” she told the Manchester Evening News

Reading the horrific details has left the four survivors reeling, she said they are unable to process that the tragedy they are reading about is their own.

Georgina added: “We’re still struggling to come to terms with the fact that all the things we’re talking about and reading about are about us. It’s hard to process. I can’t really put into words what it was like. I’m not sure anyone can describe what that is like. The pain we’ve been in itself has been relentless, just unbearable. Our lives will never be the same again.”

Following the collision, a major emergency services response arrived at the scene, including police officers, firefighters and paramedics. A cordon was established and the road was shut down. A red Seat Leon crashed head-on with a Citroen C4 Picasso.
