I tried Lidl's Christmas sandwich selection for 2025

Plenty of supermarkets, cafes and restaurants have various festive options for people to try, one of which is Lidl.

The supermarket chain released its Christmas sandwich selection back on Tuesday, November 11, which included “a new show-stopping addition”.

In a statement, Lidl shared: “Deck the rolls because Christmas is near and Lidl’s brand-new Pigs Under Blankets Sandwich is sledding into stores for the first time, available to buy at just £1.99.

“Paired with a cranberry and redcurrant chutney and covered in crispy fried onion mayo, this hearty festive creation is packed with flavour.”

I got the opportunity to try Lidl’s Christmas sandwich selection, and one in particular was a very tasty gift.

Lidl sent over the four sandwiches in its range, and I started off with the Turkey Feast one.

This combines turkey breast with pork, sage and onion stuffing, cranberry and redcurrant chutney, bacon, mayonnaise and fried onions on malted bread.

Overall, this is the sort of sandwich you’ll likely be making on Boxing Day when you’re looking to use up some leftovers.

The quality of the bread was solid, and the individual ingredients combined well to make a decent savoury flavour.

However, I felt the sweetness of the cranberry and redcurrant chutney did overstate itself and maybe didn’t combine as well as hoped.

Next up was the new Pigs Under Blankets Sandwich, and after all the hype, I’d argue it delivered in spades.

The pork & mushroom sausage provided a deft combination with the smoke-flavoured bacon, and thankfully the cranberry chutney didn’t overcome the other flavours.

All in all, it was a well-rounded sandwich that ended up being my favourite of the bunch.

After that, there were the two vegetarian/vegan options in the Brie & Cranberry Sandwich and the Vegan Falafel & Chutney Wrap.

I have to hold up my hands here and say I’m not a big fan of brie, so it would make me trying the sandwich a bit pointless.

However, thankfully, other members of my household could oblige as my parents and brother gave it a taste.

Again, the quality of the bread was mentioned as a highlight, as it held all the ingredients together well.

From my family’s feedback, the brie combined well with the cranberry chutney and the spinach added a nice little element to it.

The final one to try was the Vegan Falafel & Chutney Wrap, which crams in butternut squash falafel, cranberry chutney and spiced hummus into a beetroot & chia seed wrap.

While this isn’t the most Christmassy of sandwiches (aside from the cranberry element), it does the job rather nicely.

This lent itself more towards the sweeter side of things, but the beetroot wrap did an excellent job holding it all together without it being soggy.

Alongside all of that, the falafel was delicious, which helped secure its status as one to look out for.
