Ice warning from Met Office over injuries and disruption
The Met Office has issued the warning to large parts of the North West, which will start at 10pm today (Saturday, November 29) and run until 9am tomorrow.
The national weather service has said icy stretches could cause some disruption and possibly injuries.
After rainfall earlier in the evening, surface temperatures are expected to fall widely below freezing.
With surfaces left wet, ice is expected to form on untreated surfaces and may lead to hazardous travelling conditions.
According to the Met Office, residents should expect the following:
- Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
- Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
The warning is in place for Greater Manchester, most of Lancashire and West Yorkshire as well as large parts of Cumbria, Cheshire, south Yorkshire, the North East, Stafforshire and Derbyshire.
Elsewhere in the UK, a yellow weather warning for rain has been issued to parts most of the East Midlands, Lincolnshire, Humberside and North Yorkshire
