Football pundit Alex Scott will need to spend three days in the Australian jungle to make sure she gets her full fee for appearing on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
Former player Scott, 42, is among several high-profile names featuring in the ITV show’s 25th series, which kicked off tonight.
Joining Scott in the show are reality star Jack Osbourne, rapper Aitch, and well-known Twitch streamer Angry Ginge.
The Mirror reports that according to the Metro, the celebrities must remain in the jungle for at least 72 hours to earn their wage; otherwise, they could leave Australia empty-handed.
The Football Focus host follows in the footsteps of other football stars who’ve appeared on the show, including fellow Arsenal icon Ian Wright and former Tottenham and West Ham manager Harry Redknapp, reports Wales Online.
Scott had a distinguished playing career spanning 12 years, during which she had three separate stints with Arsenal, as well as spells at Birmingham City and Boston Breakers, winning 22 trophies with the north London club.
The former England international was a mainstay of the Lionesses squad, earning 140 caps across a 13-year career before hanging up her boots in 2018 and moving into broadcasting. A familiar face on BBC screens, Scott has co-presented The One Show and Goals on Sunday, whilst also co-hosting the Sports Personality of the Year ceremony.
Scott isn’t the first former England player to venture into the jungle, following in the footsteps of her ex-teammate Jill Scott, who claimed the Queen of the Jungle crown in 2022. Speaking about Scott’s triumph, the BBC Sport presenter confessed it would come as a massive shock if she managed to win the show.
“I have been retired a lot longer than Jill and in my head, she had that moment and it has been done,” she told ITV. “It would take a lot and if I did win, I would burst out crying. I don’t think I would even expect it.”
