TV presenter and I’m A Celeb star Adele Roberts has opened up about a ‘concerning lump’ found in her neck, four years after being diagnosed with bowel cancer and fitted with a stoma bag
Former I’m A Celeb star Adele Roberts has shared a health update after a “concerning lump” was found in her neck. The star was previously diagnosed with bowel cancer. Adele took to Instagram to share pictures of her in a hospital gown after getting the lump removed. She revealed that she was “absolutely buzzing” as the lump turned out to be benign but admitted that it had been “worrying” her.
In the caption, she wrote about her gratitude to the health service and her fans, saying: “Thank you NHS. What a week so far – it’s only Wednesday and I’ve already had a camera up my bum, an enema (that I thought would NEVER END) and some test results that I’ve been worried about since summer. Thank you to everyone who’s been sending me messages recently (noticing my array of plasters and patches).”

Adele added that she didn’t want to say anything about the lump, as nobody knew what it was at first. She said: “I didn’t want to say as it’s something I’ve been worrying about… but at the start of summer I got a concerning lump on my neck… which wouldn’t go away and then it grew into a bit of a monster. Nobody knew what it was and it wasn’t responding to treatment so I had to have it looked at by a specialist and removed.”
“With my recent health troubles and knowing you can never take anything for granted… it has been playing on my mind,” she continued. In 2021, Adele, who first found fame on Big Brother and went on to be a presenter for BBC Sport, was diagnosed with bowel cancer.
The star had chemotherapy and an operation to remove the tumour. A stoma bag was also fitted in 2022, and that same year, she was able to share that she was cancer-free.
Adele is also an avid runner and set the fastest aggregate time for a woman to complete all major World Marathon races with a stoma bag. Just before the Sydney Marathon, which took place in August, she was put on a waiting list to have the lump in her neck removed.
She added that “all that running” helped turn a “worrying time into a very happy time”. Zeroing in on her neck, she added that “even though I’ll have a wonky scar on my neck, I’m proud of it”.
Adele confirmed that the hospital ruled the lump benign but said they were unable to get a clear result from an endoscopy, and that she would have to go back for another one.
She said: “Hoping there’s no new growths hiding down there and I can leave the NHS alone for a bit.” The star then added: “If you’re reading this and you’re worried about anything please speak to someone. Early detection saves lives.”
Alongside her presenting work, Adele was a campmate on I’m A Celeb in 2019. She was the first to be voted out. She did much better on Dancing On Ice last year, where she came third.
