Shocking images have shown the aftermath of a horror plane crash in Indonesia that had 11 people on-board.
The plane vanished from radars on January 17, but authorities discovered debris from the plane crash strewn across a mountain in South Sulawesi.
This flight departed from Adisutjipto Airport, in Yogyakarta, but the Indonesia Air Transport plane lost contact with air traffic control when it was just 12 miles away from the airfield.
The Mirror reports that the flight was due to arrive at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, in Makassar, South Sulawesi, but was later found crashed in a remote part of the province. Rescue teams rushed to the site in the hopes of finding survivors.
A team sadly recovered the dead body of a man around 656 feet down a ravine on the slope of Sulawesi island’s Mount Bulusaraung. His remains have not yet been identified but it is believed he was from the doomed aircraft.
Makassar Search and Rescue Office chief Muhammad Arif Anwar said: “The discovery of the aircraft’s main sections significantly narrows the search zone and offers a crucial clue for tightening the search area.
“Our joint search and rescue teams are now focusing on searching for the victims, especially those who might still be alive.”
