Reality star Katie Price brought tears of joy to her mother, Amy – who is battling a terminal lung disease called IPF – as she gave her a thoughtful present for Christmas
Katie Price reduced fans to tears as she presented her mother with a Christmas gift that granted her a “new lease of life”. The reality star, 47, has always been close to her 73-year-old mother, Amy, who has featured on her TV shows and joined her in interviews.
In recent years, Amy’s health has deteriorated after she revealed in 2017 that she had been diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) – a terminal lung disease which causes the lung tissue to thicken and scar, making it hard to breathe. Almost 10 years later, she now struggles with her mobility.
Following the 2025 Christmas celebrations, Katie took to YouTube to share a highlights reel of her time over the festive season. And as part of her Christmas coverage, she revealed that she had bought her mum a mobility scooter to help her get around.

The footage showed Katie giving her mum a driving lesson and showing her how to drive forward and backwards on the mobility scooter. While Amy was worried about what to do if she was driving along and someone suddenly pulled out in front of her, the OnlyFans star assured her mum that if she took her foot off the pedal, the machine would stop.
Asked if she liked the gift, Amy beamed: “Yes, I do, of course I do.” She was wowed by the lights on the scooter – and Katie explained she had also bought her some furry gloves to help keep her hands warm while out driving around. And overcome with emotion, the grandmother began to cry as she thanked Katie for the life-changing present.
In emotional scenes, Amy said: “I’m going to have some fun on this. I think it opens up…” Struggling to find the words, she broke down in tears again – with Katie rushing to comfort her. With her arms around her, mum-of-five Katie asked her mother if she felt the new wheels would offer a “new lease of life” and give her “more freedom” – to which the proud grandmother nodded.
Addressing the camera, Katie then declared: “Everyone’s been happy this Christmas. All the kids. JJ. And the best person, who’s more happy, who deserves this, is mother. She’s got a new lease of life. They are good, happy tears. And I’m happy because she’s got more independence. In the summer she can go down the beach. It can cover 12 and a half miles on a full tank.”
The heartwarming scenes struck a chord with Katie’s fans, who flooded the comments section of her YouTube page to tell her how touched they were. Indeed, some fans were even reduced to tears by the wholesome footage, which they felt perfectly captured a more tender side of the TV star.
One wrote: “Made me [cry] when your mum cried over her newfound freedom as I know how she feels.” And another commented: “There is such a kind, supportive side of Katie.”
And a further fan typed: “I cried when I saw your mother’s tears of happiness. It doesn’t matter how old you are, whether you’re a child or an adult, but where your mother is, where your family home is, you feel safe and happy. You all look beautiful together.”
Back in March, Katie explained that Amy had been struggling to walk after undergoing a lung transplant as she continues to fight IPF. In a podcast update to fans at the time, the star revealed: “I do feel you for you mum, because people have to understand what my mum’s gone through, like her brain is just so active and still switched on. She can’t do the things that she used to do, which is frustrating for her.”
She continued: “Now here’s an example, because I am a patient person, but when my mother teases me and says let’s go look at the shops in the Isle of Wight, shall I take my walker or wheelchair, and I’m like ‘No, we’re taking your wheelchair because I’m not taking an hour.’”
Amy then contributed to the discussion to say: “It’s not doing me any good because I’m meant to walk to help myself.” The grandmother went on to explain her hope of being able to walk again by the summer.
