The car park was closed on Saturday (December 13) after a fire broke out.
Car Park One at Addenbrooke’s Hospital reopened on Friday (December 19). The car park was closed after a fire broke out on Saturday, December 13, at around 4pm.
The fire broke out on the second floor of the car park and spread to multiple vehicles. More than 30 firefighters worked to contain the fire overnight.
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the fire was caused by a mechanical fault with a diesel vehicle. Over the week, people whose cars were stuck in the car park were contacted to retrieve them. The car park has now fully reopened.
A spokesperson for NCP said: “We can announce that Car Park One reopened today at 6pm. NCP and the Trust worked hard to achieve this as quickly as possible, with the help of surveys from structural engineers. Our sincere apologies to patients, staff and visitors affected. We appreciate your support and understanding.”
