Latin singer Maria De La Ros, 22, shot dead in parked car during 'ambush-style' killing as cops launch manhunt

A WOMAN who was shot dead in Los Angeles has been identified as a young up-and-coming Latin musician.

Maria De La Rosa was shot dead in the early hours of Saturday morning in what police described as an “ambush-style” killing.

Witnesses say that they saw two unknown males run up to a parked vehicle and let off multiple shots.

All three passengers inside were hit.

The 22-year-old female singer was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The two other victims are currently in critical condition.

According to the LAPD, the shooting took place just before 1:30am on Bryant Street east of Tampa Avenue in the Northridge neighbourhood.

The motive behind the shooting remains a mystery.

During the initial stage of the investigation, police identified the victim as a “20-year-old woman” before a statement on Monday named her as 22-year-old Maria De La Rosa.

The music artist who goes by DELAROSA is most well known for her song “No me Llames,” which means “Don’t call me”.

The caption of her most recent Instagram post is captioned: “Ocupando cocinando en el Stu … Ya es tiempo.”

This means “Busy cooking in the [studio] … it’s about time.”

Many of her fans have since taken to the comment section to express their sadness at the news.

These include Mexican-American record executive Jimmy Humilde.

However, this is not the first time a young musical talent has get caught up in gun violence.

An investigation into the circumstance of her death is ongoing

Back in October, an Argentinian model and singer was shot dead in Mexico just day before he was due to appear on the country’s version of Strictly Come Dancing.

Fede Dorcaz, 29, was killed in a suspected armed robbery after leaving rehearsals that day.

He had been driving home to the house he shared with his influencer girlfriend.

According to local reports, the attack happened as he tried to exit a ring road.

He was shot in the neck and died instantly.
