Laura Woods has put fans’ minds at ease through Instagram after fainting during live football coverage on Tuesday evening.

Katie Shanahan stepped in to replace Woods, confirming at the interval of England’s 2-0 victory that she was “doing okay”, whilst her fiancé Adam Collard also took to X to reassure concerned viewers about her condition.

Woods herself then addressed supporters through social media, apologising for causing alarm and confirming her wellbeing.

Writing on her Instagram story, Woods explained: “Gosh that was a bit weird. Sorry to worry everyone, I’m ok, the wonderful paramedic at Saints have said its probably a virus, just need a bit of rest and rehydration.

“I’m really embarrassed that happened on tv, but a big thank you to my colleagues at ITV who have really looked after me tonight. And to Wrighty and Neets for catching me. And sorry again x.”

ITV responded by sharing her message on their X platform, adding: “Wishing you a speedy recovery, @laura_woodsy.”

It followed an earlier post from Collard, who had already updated concerned fans of the TNT Sports presenter.

In a subsequent update, he said: “Laura is all OK and with the right people. Thank you for all of your kind messages.”

The distressing incident, which unfolded just before kick-off at St Mary’s, prompted an outpouring of concern from fans towards Woods.

One fan said: “Really hope Laura Woods is okay. Fair play to Ian Wright and Anita Asante for catching her. Fair play to the stand-in presenter who stepped in, some effort that.”

Another added: “Hope you’re OK Laura. And you return soon.”

A third well-wisher commented: “Speedy recovery Laura, hope you are ok.”

A fourth wrote: “Wishing you a speedy recovery Laura x.”
