Lewis Cope begs Strictly fans to ‘keep it positive’ as he teases reunion with Katya Jones after shock axe
STRICTLY Come Dancing star Lewis Cope has begged fans to “keep it positive” in a new video message after his shock axing.
The Emmerdale actor was given the boot from the BBC dance contest last week in a surprise turn of events which meant he would not make the quarter-final.
He competed in a dance-off with West End star Amber Davies – who opened up on her trolling hell after being inundated with negative messages despite making it through an extra week.
Now, Lewis has also instructed his fans to be nice and not say “anything negative” in the wake of his exit.
Speaking to his followers via Instagram as he enjoyed a stroll on the beach, Lewis said: “Enjoy the show and just try to keep it positive and stay away from saying anything negative about anyone else.
“Everyone is doing their best and it’s just a TV show and they all deserve to be there.”
Also during his video message, the star hinted he could be performing with Katya Jones once again.
Despite confessing he was gutted to be out of the contest, he insisted he would dance with Katya ‘forever’ if he was able to.
Sparking speculation that they may perform together once more, Lewis said: “I would have loved to have been dancing again [on Saturday].
“But that doesn’t really stand for much because I would do it every single week for the next six months if I could.
“Hopefully, we will be able to dance for you again soon.”
Lewis and Katya’s elimination was one of the most shocking in Strictly history.
They had regularly landed at the top of the leaderboard and had been considered favourites to win.
However, their experience was also dogged by Lewis’s dance past, having trained in performing and reaching the final of Sky dance competition Got To Dance.
Similarly, West End leading lady Amber has faced criticism for her past performing experience.
It led to her pro partner Nikita Kuzmin to speak out against trolling on last night’s live show.
He said to Amber during an appearance in the Clauditorium: “You had so much hate every single day from the moment you joined.
“You had so much hate this week and yet you came every single day into the training room with a big smile, ignoring everybody.”
