An animal could be seen sitting among croissants in the bakery aisle of Lidl in a viral clip – and the video garnered over 140,000 likes because it’s just too cute
Shoppers at Lidl were left astounded when they spotted an unexpected “shoplifter” in the bakery aisle – a robin helping itself to crumbs of pastries. The video, which has amassed over 140,000 likes, shows the little bird perched amongst some croissants.
The robin can be seen pecking at the flaky pastries it’s nestled between – and who could blame it? One viewer humorously commented that “he only wanted a Lidl bit”.
Unfazed by the presence of other shoppers, the robin continued to enjoy its feast until a trolley came too close, causing it to take flight. However, the bird landed safely on a pile of almond croissants, continuing its bakery adventure.
The clip concludes with the robin flying away, leaving viewers wondering how it ended up in the bakery aisle in the first place.
Commenters found the robin’s antics endearing, joking that it should be allowed to “stuff himself” with as many crumbs as it desired.
One Instagram user quipped: “Robin by name, robbing by nature”.
Another person said they would be “so excited,” if they witnessed such a scene, describing it as “too cute”.
A woman joked: “The bakery shelf would be my first destination too…my spirit animal living his/her pastry dream!”.
Another added: “Everyone in Ireland thinks their passed loved one is now following them into Lidl. Love that for them”.
But what makes people believe their departed loved ones are present when they spot a robin?
Television medium Sally Morgan lent support to the popular belief that ‘robins appear when loved ones are near,’ a notion that brings solace to many following a bereavement, whether recent or from years past.
Whilst this concept doesn’t resonate with everyone, those seeking messages from beyond may find significance in such encounters.
Sally explains that if you’re searching for a sign, “one of the first signs you’ll receive is a robin”.
“Robins are free, they fly in, they fly out”, explained Sally, who performs across the nation, noting that you’ll “know” it represents your beloved because you will “instantly think of the loved one that has passed”.
Therefore, according to Sally, anyone who encountered the robin at Lidl and found themselves thinking of a deceased person upon seeing it has received a spiritual message from that individual.
