Major 999 response after River Tees incident at Barnard Castle
It took place near Bridge End View, in Barnard Castle, shortly after 11.30pm on Saturday evening (December 6).
Reports suggest a major emergency response were seen near the river, with a helicopter appearing to scour the area using a torch from above.
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) has confirmed it sent several ambulances to the scene and attended alongside mountain rescue teams.
The nature of the incident is yet to be confirmed.
A spokesperson for NEAS said: “We were called to an incident at the River Tees near Bridge End View, Barnard Castle, shortly after 11.30pm on December 6.
“We dispatched two double crewed ambulances, a duty officer and three vehicles from our Hazardous Area Response Team. We were also supported by our mountain rescue colleagues.”
